Haley Omasta

Hometown: Danbury, CT
Major: Business Administration/Management
Year: Sophomore

After high school, Haley didn’t know if she wanted to go to college or travel more. When searching for colleges online, Southern Vermont College (SVC) came up on “pretty colleges.” She knew she wanted to major in business and decided to attend SVC.

In March 2014, Haley was awarded a grant and attended the Insight Dubai Conference sponsored by Dubai Women’s College (DWC) in the United Arab Emirates. Each spring, DWC hosts 60 young women from around the world and pairs them with DWC students for five days of learning, sharing and growing together. Haley attended speaker panels and lectures, and she went on field trips to develop her global awareness, intercultural understanding and leadership skills.

A Business Administration/Management major, Haley is doing an internship with the Bart Center at Bromley Mountain ski area, and next semester she has an internship lined up with TEDX Battenkill, an organization that brings inspirational speakers to the community.

Haley has been captain of the SVC women’s cross country team. She is also a member of PRIDE and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Some of her favorite classes at SVC have been Creative Writing and Marketing.

For fun, Haley likes to swim and run. One of her favorite spots in downtown Bennington is Benners for calzones, and she works part time at a local restaurant.

After graduation, Haley would like to go to graduate school for event planning or public relations.

“Live life to be happy,” says Haley. “Accept people for being people. There’s a way to get what you want.”
