Nu422 Transitions to Professional Practice 4 credits

Synthesis of core knowledge and skills in preparation for entry-level professional practice. Students revisit, through accelerated content review based on areas of client needs, the essential professional body of knowledge necessary for entry to practice and licensure. The course facilitates the student's transition to professional Nursing practice and management of clients with complex health problems. The practicum experience enables students to demonstrate leadership and collaborative skills in a self-selected healthcare environment with other members of the healthcare team through a preceptor relationship with an RN. Application and evaluation of safety, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, informatics, and teamwork and collaboration competencies culminate in the senior practicum experience and project capstone course. (30 clinical hours.)  Prerequisites: Nu413 and Nu421 with a minimum grade of C+.
