academic Research/interests

Currently writing a manuscript regarding my 30-year experience working as a registered nurse on a locked psychiatric wing. I also hope to play golf well into my 90's, which is presently my average score.

areas of expertise

Nursing: 30-plus years as a staff/charge nurse on a locked psychiatric facility, having assisted in various degrees to over 10,000 patients/clients between 1974 to present day.

Writing: Authored two books: Last of the Donkey Pilgrims and A Lucky Irish Lad. Both memoirs; the first details my walk around Ireland with a donkey; the second chronicles my boyhood days - from birth to returning home from Vietnam.

Why I teach

I teach because I've been fortunate enough to be chosen to do so. Also, teaching is a sharing of experience - stories that need to be told - which oftentimes leave an indelible mark upon the student who, in turn, carries this good practice to the hospital wards where it thrives, unnoticed, in quiet corners.
