Healthcare Forum on "Pediatric Grand Rounds: Case Studies of Caring" at Southern Vermont College
March 4, 2012
On Thursday, March 22, the Healthcare Forum series at Southern Vermont College will include a presentation, entitled Pediatric Grand Rounds . . . Case Studies of Caring . . . From Sleep-over Camp to Overseas Pilgrimages, by Janine Cantalupo, Nurse Manager of General Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center. (This is a rescheduled event due to inclement weather on January 26.) The Forum will take place in the Everett Mansion Theatre from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the general public is invited to this event.
Cantalupo will talk about her experience as a pediatric nurse, how she provides empathetic care to children, the benefits of therapeutic play, and how the field of pediatrics has changed and expanded. As a Nurse Manager at Albany Medical Center (AMC), Cantalupo has 24-hour responsibility, authority, and accountability for pediatric patients ranging from birth to age 21. She is also responsible for fiscal and personnel management in addition to clinical decision-making for her patients, their families, and staff.
Prior to her current position at AMC, Cantalupo held several positions at the Center including Co-Nurse Manager of General Pediatrics, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Registered Nurse IV. Cantalupo is a board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Albany. She also volunteered at the Glens Falls Medical Mission, and currently volunteers as a Camp Nurse at Double H Hole in the Woods Camp in Lake Luzerne.
This event is the fifth healthcare forum in a series, which is sponsored by the Division of Nursing at Southern Vermont College. For more information, call 802-447-4661 or e-mail kschultz@svc.edu.
