Commencement 2018 Schedule
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GRADUATING SENIORS
After Spring Break, students may pick up graduation announcements from the Registrar’s Office in Room 375. The announcements will also be available on Cap & Gown Pickup Day, Wednesday, April 25, from 2-4 p.m. in Burgdorff Gallery.
BEFORE APRIL 1
Graduates will need to pay their student account balance and complete loan exit counseling before they receive their cap and gown.
SVC STUDENT PORTAL: Review your student account balance. “View My Billing” information and share it with the person who pays your bill. All balances need to be paid in full in order to receive your cap and gown and diploma.
Update your address in the Student Portal: Log into the Student Portal and press the EDIT PROFILE button in the top left corner.
Web site https://studentloans.gov.: Complete Loan Exit Counseling: Go online to https://studentloans.gov., press “Counseling.” Exit Counseling to complete and submit the counseling session. Your FAFSA User Name and Password is needed to access your personal information. Save the confirmation page.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25
2:00 – 4:00 p.m., CAP & GOWN PICKUP
Caps and gowns will be available for pickup in Burgdorff Gallery as long as the student has fulfilled their exit with Office of Student Financial Services. If graduates are unable to pick up their cap and gown on this date, they can pick them up from the Registrar’s Office in Room 375.
ACCOMMODATIONS AND ACCESSIBILITY
If your guests require special parking and seating arrangements at Commencement, please inform Allison Davis in Student Affairs Office when you pick up your cap and gown or by calling 802-681-2845 or e-mail email@example.com by Thursday, May 3. Be prepared to inform the name(s) of your guest(s), their relationship to you, and what accommodations/accessibility is requested (e.g., to be driven or escorted to the tent, etc.).
FRIDAY, MAY 4
4:00-6:00 p.m. – HONORS CONVOCATION & ALPHA CHI INDUCTION CEREMONY
Honors Convocation is a celebration of student achievement and Alpha Chi is a national academic honor society. Both events will take place at Laumeister Art Center, 44 Gypsy Lane, Bennington, with a reception to follow. Shuttle service will be provided starting approximately 2:00 p.m.
THURSDAY, MAY 10
4:00 – 6:00 p.m. – LEAD COLLARING CEREMONY
This ceremony is for Radiologic Sciences graduates and will take place at Laumeister Art Center, 44 Gypsy Lane, Bennington, with a reception to follow.
FRIDAY, MAY 11
1:30 p.m. – GRADUATION REHEARSAL
Starting promptly at 1:30 p.m., graduation rehearsal is mandatory for all graduates planning to march at Commencement. Lineup takes place on the front terrace of Everett Mansion. Note: If it rains, lineup will take place outside the library through first-floor hallway. Students graduating with honors will receive their recognition during rehearsal. If, for extenuating circumstances, you cannot attend rehearsal, please notify the Registrar’s Office at 802-447-6324 or firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday, May 1.
2:30-4:30 p.m. – Following rehearsal, graduates are invited to a BARBECUE, located on the Everett Mansion terrace OR if it rains, in the Dining Hall. For graduates, the barbecue will be in lieu of dinner in the dining hall.
5:30-7:00 p.m. – NURSING PINNING
The Nursing Pinning Ceremony for Nursing graduates will take place under the tent on the Greystone Lawn (in front of Everett Mansion) with a reception to follow.
SATURDAY, MAY 12
10:00-11:00 a.m. – COMMENCEMENT BREAKFAST
All graduating seniors and their family are invited to a Commencement breakfast in the Everett Mansion Library.
10:30-11:30 a.m. – BAND/CHOIR REHEARSAL
11:30 a.m. – CLASS OF 2018 PHOTOGRAPH
The Class of 2018 photograph will take place on the Cascade in the Courtyard of the Everett Mansion. It is important that all graduates are dressed in their cap and gown and in the Courtyard promptly at 11:30 a.m. Purchase information for the class photograph will be available online at a specific Web site, which will be accessed by graduates and their families. Within two weeks after Commencement weekend, SVC’s Web site will post when photos are available with contact information.
12:30 p.m. – LINEUP OF GRADUATES
Graduates will line up on the Everett Mansion Terrace promptly at 12:30 p.m. for the 1:00 p.m. Commencement ceremony, with faculty, staff, trustees, honorary degree recipient, president, cabinet members, senior council members, and registrar. After the ceremony, refreshments will be available in the Everett Mansion.
1:00 p.m. – COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
Commencement ceremony begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided in Burgdorff Gallery following the ceremony.
HERE is a form to purchase a video of the Commencement ceremony.
Please notify your family and friends who plan to attend Commencement to arrive early. Commencement begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. A Campus Safety Officer will instruct drivers where to park. The shuttle will start at 8:00 a.m.
